What payment methods are accepted?
1. Cash
- Most commonly used payment method.
- The official currency: Egyptian pound (EGP).
- In tourist destinations (Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, Cairo, etc.) accept the euro and US dollar for smaller purchases (e.g. souvenirs, transfers, excursions), but usually at a worse exchange rate they change.
- Always be smaller than you cash in denominations, because many places have no returns or only with difficulty.
- Bank card
- Major hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard).
- Small shops, bazaars, taxis and local restaurants but cash only are accepted.
- It may be that 3-5% surcharge will be applied when paying by card.
- ATM (cash machine)
- There are many ATMs in larger towns and tourist areas.
- Preferably use a bank ATM, not travel agencies or hidden machines.
- Retrieved from to withdraw local currency, because you get a better exchange rate than if you change at the airport or hotel.

- Official money changers, banks or major hotels change money.
- Don't change money at street money changers or tourist guides - it's be both prohibited and dangerous.

What documents are required?
Passport:
At least must be valid for 6 months from the date of entry.
ID card not enough, you need a passport to enter!
Tourist visa:
- On arrival at the airport redeemable at a price of 25 USD.
- Return flight ticket (round trip)

Proof of accommodation booking:
- E.g. hotel confirmation or apartment booking (Digital is enough.)

- If accompanied by only one parent, the other written in English consent must.
Do I need to pay for a tourist visa?
Yes, "Tourist Visa" or "Visa on Arrival" (visa required on arrival).
This is a 30-day visa for tourists.
Price: 25 USD (usually in cash, but some airports also accept credit cards).
Available for purchase at the airport at a bank counter or visa counterbefore you go to passport control.
